The 2000 Thomas shuttle bus has a Cummins IFB 5.9 24V diesel engine and a AT545 automatic transmission. It also has a Thomas SLF200 bus chassis and full air brakes and ride suspension. To keep the bus cool on hot summer days there is a Thermo King dual compressor rooftop air conditioner.
The seats in the Thomas Shuttle bus are not very comfortable. They are made mostly of plastic and have two small blue cushions. The seats also have grip bars for standing passengers. There is a small storage space above each seat. All of the windows are made form tinted safety glass which is designed not to shatter in an accident. For night trips there is overhead lighting throughout the entire bus. On one side of the bus is a ADA compliant wheelchair ramp, two of the seats can be folded to make room for a wheelchair.
The exterior of the Thomas shuttle is much like any other mini bus. The front door swings open for easy boarding. A digital message destination board is placed over the front windshield. The bus is painted white and has windows covering both sides.
