This is a 1966 BMW R69S, top of the line Earles Fork BMW twin, the R69S for sale. It has the US specification handlebars and seat. This BMW R Series also has the very desireable 6.3gal Schorsch Meier Touring Tank! These tanks really do a lot for a R69S for sale. It really makes the bike look great. Another optional upgrade featured on this bike is the Weinmann Aluminum Rims. They are in nice shape. This BMW has been mechanically gone over without disturbing the original patina. Mechanical work performed was NOS 25/8 ring and pinion gears about 4 thousand miles ago along with new seals and new wheel bearings. Also about 4 thousand miles ago the crank was renewed, along with new pistons, seals and gaskets. At this same time this 1966 BMW also had the heads rebuilt and slingers cleaned. All new bearings, seals and gaskets were also used in the motor, including the very expensive spherical roller bearing that goes on the rear of the crank. New BUMM headlight has been installed and it looks and works great. The transmission works well and shifts smoothly. The bike is a 1 kick starter. The carbs are the correct numbers and the correct S model hydraulic damper is present and works well. The correct S model vibration damper is present on the end of the crank and has a good, low mileage rubber bushing in it.
There are some scratches and small dings on this BMW R Series, but nothing bad. The frame and forks have some surface rust in places, but nothing penetrating. The front and rear swing arm bearings have been greased as well as the steering head bearings. There is a small ding in the right side muffler. The paint on this 1966 BMW is original and shows some wear and tear - but not bad for a bike of this age. A few months ago new modern tires were added.
