The 2006 Seadoo GTX comes in three different types, the standard, the limited, and the SC. The standard is the one we are reviewing here. It typically stocks a 4tec SOHC Rotax engine with multi-point fuel injection. (SOHC stands for single overhead camshaft). The engine has four valves per cylinder. The engine holds almost 16 gallons of regular unleaded gas. The transmission is a 3 gear (forward, neutral, reverse) direct drive transmission. Dry, it weights about 850 pounds. The cooling system is closed loop cooling. It has a Bombardier propulsion system with an aluminum composite, single stage, axial flow water jet pump.
The 2006 Seadoo GTX standard seats 1-3 riders. It has a storage capacity of about 52 gallons. This includes a glove compartment, and an extra large water tight storage compartment. Included gauges are speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure, voltage, overheat, hour meter, compass, water body temperature, and check engine light, amongst others. The seats offer carpeted foot wells for comfort and traction, and there are seat straps for safety and easy of reboarding in water.
Overall dimensions are 130.3 in x 48 in x 44.4 in (l x w x h). The impeller is stainless steel (which provides better top speeds and acceleration), but has easily replaceable urethane components. The hull body type is a modified Vee with a fiberglass reinforced composite material, which is not only light, but strong and easy to keep well maintained. The 06 Seadoo GTX also includes a reboarding step and deck pad, side view mirrors, and hand grips. There are eyes on the bow and stern for easy tie up to the jetski. It also has bumpers for added protection to the hull, and a fuel filler that is elevated so that it is easier to refuel, and less likely to be contaminated with water.
